PDF-E-030 | Canadian Language Benchmarks for the Deaf (CLBD)
Canadian Language Benchmarks for the Deaf (CLBD) is a document intended for Canada’s Deaf community. It describes levels of receptive and productive ability in American Sign Language (ASL) for learners of ASL as a Second Language. It also describes the ability of Deaf immigrants to learn how to read and write in English.
The development of this document was made possible through funding received by the Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) from the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services and with the collaboration of the OCSB, the Centre for Canadian Language Benchmarks (CCLB) and many ESL and ASL experts.
NOTE: this document remains a “Working document” as only Stage I of the benchmarks was completed.
