Classroom Assessment Workshops: SAM, Integrating Assessment, Exit Task and CLB Support Kit Training and CLB/NCLC Support Kit Training

Through funding from the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade (MCIIT), CCLB is able to offer online and in-person workshops and provide training for English as a Second Language (ESL) and French as a Second Language (FSL) instructors delivering ESL/FSL courses in MCIIT’s Adult Non-Credit Language Training Programs in participating Ontario district school boards.

In March, sessions on SAM and Exit Tasks were held in Windsor for 13 instructors. In April, an additional Exit Tasks session was held in Hamilton for 26 instructors and in May, one CLB and Support Kit session was held in Peel for 55 instructors. CCLB continues to maintain a list of training requests from site administrators and is working with both school board sites and MCIIT to continue setting up sessions. CCLB is also looking at ways to address training needs of instructors in areas with less demand.

Training sessions are also offered on a fee-for-service basis. Over the course of the spring, CCLB held one Integrating Assessment into the CLB Classroom session for 24 participants and an Orientation to the CLB and Support Kit to 18 participants at the request of a site in Vancouver, BC. An Orientation to the CLB and Support Kit for fifteen participants was also held at the request of a site in London, ON and a CLB 101 session to five participants at the request of a site in Montreal, QC.
