With funding from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) and the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade (MCIIT), CCLB continues to support multiple cohorts rolling out PBLA across Canada.
The first PBLA cohort of Lead Instructors, consisting of representatives from the Atlantic Region, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Alberta are now supporting classroom instructors. In April, after participating in PBLA workshops led by PBLA Lead Instructors, classroom instructors started to implement PBLA in their own classrooms.
The second CIC cohort, with approximately 105 Lead Instructors from British Columbia and Ontario, will complete their Application Phase in June 2015. MCIIT Cohort A (Ontario), with 55 participants, will also be submitting their final sample portfolio assignment in June. This is the final step before obtaining PBLA Lead Instructor certification.
Cohort 3, made up of 40 lead instructors, primarily from Manitoba, are on track to complete their Application Phase in late June and join the growing number of certified PBLA Lead Instructors. Plans for face-to-face meetings in the fall to review PBLA implementation are underway. Preparations are being made for additional cohorts.
