Expanded Training for Employment Counsellors in the Use of the Workplace Language Assessment Screening Tool

Project Description

The Screening Tool was developed for counsellors in organizations offering employment counselling to newcomers to Canada. It is to assist counsellors in making appropriate referrals of clients to centers where they can receive language assessment and placement into language training programs.

The CCLB originally developed a 3-hour training program for counsellors in how to use the Screening Tool. While the feedback was very positive, participants indicated a need for more information and more time to prepare to use the Screening Tool. The revised training package will result in an expanded training program and additional training materials for employment counsellors.
