CIITE - Colleges Integrating Immigrants to Employment - Language Proficiency Project

Project Description

The CIITE -  Language Proficiency Project is a partnership between the Centre for Canadian Language Benchmarks and CON*NECT (Colleges of Ontario Network for Education and Training). Seven Ontario colleges are involved in this project.

The role of the CCLB in the project is defined by our mission to support the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) and Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) through policy, guidelines, research and development, and to promote their recognition and use as practical, fair and reliable national standards of second language proficiency in educational, training, community and workplace settings. 

The CCLB is contributing advisory support and input in the development of the detailed project implementation plans to support the overall project.

As the Centre of Expertise for the CLB/NCLC, the CCLB is providing leadership and direction in the following key areas:

• training in the CLB/NCLC for representatives of Ontario colleges interested in better understanding their use and benefits at the post secondary level
  
  
• determining best practices in the use of CLB/NCLC in consultation with colleges who have been successful in integrating them into their institutions
  
  
• Supporting the piloting of CLB assessment tools used in the pilot project
  
  
• proving training on CLB assessment tools used in the pilot project
